The boy is seriously injured. The deceased were Bambam Kumar Sah (39), his wife Rupa Kumari (27) and their daughter Mahi (7). Originally from Bihar’s Banka district, Bambam lived in Delhi’s Rajokri with his family and drove a cab for a living. The family had borrowed a Maruti Swift from a friend, Raju Singh, to visit Balaji temple in Rajasthan, Bambam’s brother Balmikee Sah said. They left Rajokri around 8pm, visited the temple and were on their way back when the crash occurred.Police sources said Bambam was driving at 124 kmph when the car hit the bus. His son Ayush (10) was in the front passenger seat. Using a mechanical cutter, rescuers cut through the car and pulled out Ayush and Tingi. Police gave Ayush water even as he was being pulled out, as the airbags had also deployed.Ayush was first taken to a nearby hospital and later referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. Police said he could not move his leg. Tingi suffered a forehead injury but is out of danger.“I received a call from the cops around 4am, following which I informed my family in Bihar and reached the spot. I was devastated to see the bodies. Now, since we won’t be able to afford an ambulance to Bihar, we will cremate them here. My handicapped mother won’t be able to attend their last rites,” Balmikee, also a cab driver, told TOI.Relatives said the two surviving children will stay with their grandmother in the family’s native village in Bihar. Ayush is a student at a private school near the family’s rented accommodation in Delhi. The bodies were taken to Sohna Civil Hospital for postmortem and handed over to the family. Police seized the car and the bus.The station house officer said the bus had developed a mechanical snag. The bus driver has been detained and a case registered against him at Bhondsi police station. Police are investigating the circumstances of the collision and suspect the car driver may have dozed off.
