Dhanbad DRM assesses junction, directs upgrade of passenger amenities
Dhanbad DRM Akhilesh Mishra, accompanied by other railway officials, interacted with passengers on Thursday

Dhanbad: The divisional railway manager (DRM) of Dhanbad division, Akhilesh Mishra, on Thursday assessed the facilities available at the Dhanbad junction and directed the officials concerned to better the amenities for passengers. The initiative aims to strengthen passenger-oriented services by understanding the difficulties faced by travellers and obtaining direct feedback on their journey experiences, sources said.Mishra interacted with passengers aboard the Dhanbad–Alappuzha Express under the ‘Rail Samvad’ programme, listened to their grievances and sought suggestions to improve railway services.“Passengers appeared satisfied with the facilities available to them. However, some travelling on long-distance trains raised concerns over the shortage of water. We will undertake efforts to address the issue at the earliest,” the DRM said. The ‘Rail Samvad’ programme provided an opportunity for railway officials to understand passengers’ concerns first-hand rather than relying solely on routine feedback mechanisms. Railway officials interacted with passengers at 103 railway stations under the Dhanbad Railway Division as part of the ‘Rail Samvad’ programme to review passenger amenities and gather feedback on the services being provided.Dhanbad Railway Division is among the highest revenue-generating divisions of Indian Railways. Dhanbad Junction, one of its major stations, handles the arrival and departure of over 100 trains every day. An average of around 25,000 passengers travel through the station daily, an officer said.
