Hazaribag: Hazaribag Municipal Corporation will soon deploy nine three-wheelers equipped with portable fogging machines across its 36 wards. The three-wheelers will be pressed into action in narrow lanes and residential localities that larger vehicles cannot access, officials said.Over 5 lakh people live in the municipal limits. However, the civic body has only three fogging machines, which makes it difficult to carry out regular fogging across all wards. Waterlogging, caused by a recent wet spell, coupled with open drains and garbage heaps at several points, has created favourable conditions for mosquito breeding.Residents in several pockets have complained that fogging is inadequate and irregular.Additional municipal commissioner Pradeep Kumar said, “Large fogging vehicles cannot enter several narrow lanes and residential pockets. To bridge this gap, the corporation plans to procure nine three-wheelers and an equal number of portable fogging machines.”Under the proposed arrangement, each machine will cover about four wards, ensuring coverage of all 36 wards. Kumar said the tender process for the buy is being prepared. Large fogging vehicles will continue to operate on main roads and wider stretches.In a separate move, the civic body has procured 500 bags of lime and 500 bags of bleaching powder for use in and around the Durga Puja pandals in the city. Three sanitation workers will be deployed in every ward to ensure regular cleaning during the festive season.
