The first phase covered nearly one kilometre from the Gurjar Ki Thadi side and remained confined to selected encroachments on pavements and road margins. Officials said the operation targeted shop extensions, railings, staircases and similar projections, not main buildings or commercial establishments.DIG, enforcement wing, Anand Sharma said the action was limited and peaceful. “We have not demolished any buildings or shops. The drive went peacefully,” he said.A joint team from JDA, Jaipur Municipal Corporation and Jaipur Commissionerate started the operation around 8 am. It continued for almost four hours amid traffic restrictions and police deployment.Traffic movement between Gurjar Ki Thadi and Vivek Vihar Metro station was regulated during the exercise. Smaller vehicles were diverted through internal lanes and bylanes, while heavy vehicles were sent towards Gautam Marg and MJRP College Road.Officials at the site said encroachments linked to about 15 structures were removed during the day. “Large portions of several properties had already been marked as encroachments and would be taken up in subsequent action,” an enforcement official stated.Civil Lines MLA Gopal Sharma visited the spot and questioned the demarcation process. “The action was being carried out under court orders, but how did JDA mark properties that have not violated any sanctioned plans? That too, when many of them are using these spaces for over 40 to 50 years,” asked Sharma. The JDA has already marked alleged encroachments and issued notices to around 250 structures between Gurjar Ki Thadi and Sodala on New Sanganer Road.“The authority must submit a compliance report to the high court Tuesday and would prepare it after Monday’s drive for the next round of proceedings,” another enforcement official added.
