Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh all-rounder Prashant Veer continued his strong run in domestic cricket with a seven-wicket haul. Prashant, who had taken one wicket in the first innings, finished with eight wickets in the match.Speaking after his spell, Prashant said the seven-wicket haul was special as it was his first in red-ball cricket. “This is my first seven-wicket haul in red-ball cricket. The wicket was very tough for batting because I had batted on it and knew how it was behaving. Later, I realised it was an ideal surface for a left-arm spinner. Any spinner would have been happy to bowl on that wicket. The key was to bowl in the right areas, and the wicket was helping,” he said.Prashant said his stint with CSK had helped him understand his role better and improve his game. “I learnt a lot in the IPL. I understood the importance of my role and worked on it. The benefits of that are now visible in the domestic season. Recently, I also attended Chennai Super Kings’ preparation camp, where an England coach worked with us,” he said.He also credited senior players and coaches for guiding him in his development. “I keep talking to Bhuvneshwar Kumar bhai and Rinku bhai about my bowling. I also send my videos to my coaches — Rajeev Goyal sir, Rajiv sir from CSK, and my childhood coach Ghalib sir,” he said.Prashant said he was focused on improving across formats and was working to become a more complete red-ball cricketer. On his future ambitions, Prashant said he was working towards earning a place in the Indian team, particularly in T20 cricket. “I am preparing for the Indian blue jersey, especially in T20Is. Let’s see how things go,” he said.
