Jaipur: A 27-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his live-in partner in a residential apartment in Patrakar Colony. The suspect, identified as Yugraj Singh alias Yuvraj Singh alias Deepak, was nabbed Friday, even as he attempted to evade police by switching off his mobile phone and travelling through three cities. The murder centres around the victim, Mona Jatav, also 27, whose body was discovered in Flat No 901 at Amor Residency in Rampura village on Oct 19. Mona’s brother, Parul Singh, filed a murder complaint, prompting an investigation by the Patrakar Colony police station.According to police, Mona married in 2015 and had two children, but due to differences with her husband, she had been living separately. She entered a live-in relationship with Yugraj around a year ago.DCP (South) Rajarshi Raj Varma said that the ongoing investigation revealed that jealousy may have been a motive for the murder, as Yugraj suspected Mona of communicating with another man.Following the filing of the complaint, a special police team was formed to track down the accused. Investigators analysed CCTV footage from Amor Residency and surrounding areas, which was crucial in determining his whereabouts. After allegedly switching off his phone, Yugraj travelled by bus to cities including Delhi, Agra and Bharatpur to mislead police.Technical assistance proved vital, allowing police to locate him near B Narayan Gate in Bharatpur just as he was preparing to leave for Delhi. During interrogation, Yugraj allegedly admitted to the crime. The arrest team was led by SHO Kavita Yadav under the supervision of Additional DCP Lalit Kumar Sharma and ACP Hemendra Sharma.
