Ghaziabad: A man and his parents were arrested on Tuesday evening for allegedly murdering his wife over a family dispute in Madhuban Bapudham. Arun Kumar, a resident of Sadarpur village, allegedly beat his wife with an iron rod on Oct 4 and took her to a private hospital, where she died. He fled the hospital at the time but was later arrested along with his parents, Vinod Kumar and Rohtashi.Renu married Arun, who works as a driver in Sadarpur, in 2011. The couple has two sons aged 11 and 13. Arun is allegedly an alcoholic and the couple had been fighting because of it for some time.The two allegedly fought on the night of Oct 3. When Arun came home from work the next evening, the couple fought again after Arun’s mother allegedly told him Renu had refused to cook that day. The argument escalated and Arun allegedly beat Renu with an iron rod.Renu’s father Narendra Sharma said in the police complaint that Arun video-called them during the assault and told them he would kill her and they should come to take her body. Arun made seven calls during the assault, police said.Sharma and his family left Aligarh for Sadarpur and were told by Renu’s neighbours that she was severely injured and had been brought to a hospital while they were on their way. By the time they arrived there, however, Renu had succumbed to her injuries.“The autopsy report revealed the cause of death was injury to the head. Reports also showed that Renu had sustained more than 35 injuries all over her body,” ACP (Kavi Nagar) Abhay Rajendra Daga said.An FIR has been registered against the accused under BNS sections 103 (murder) and 85 (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) at Madhuban Bapudham police station. All three accused were sent to judicial custody after being produced in the court, police added.
