‘Viksit Gram Panchayat Plan’ launched in Mirzapur

Lucknow: To translate the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047 into action at the grassroots level, the Yogi govt has launched the state’s first Viksit Gram Panchayat Plan (VGPP) at Bagheda Khurd Gram Panchayat in Chhanvey development block of Mirzapur district. The model, prepared under the guidance of master trainers Nihar Maharana from Jharkhand and Harivilas Dwivedi from Madhya Pradesh, who were trained by the Union ministry of rural development, and with technical support from Transform Rural India (TRI), will provide a new roadmap for evidence-based, need-based and saturation-oriented development across all gram panchayats in the state. The Mirzapur pilot project will serve as a practical way to test the technology-based planning process before its rollout across the state. The Mirzapur district and block administrations, panchayat representatives, self-help groups, frontline workers, local community members and representatives of the VB-G RAM G State Cell actively participated in the initiative. The trainers took participants and villagers on a field visit to help identify the village’s actual priorities and requirements. The most significant feature of the master plan was its participatory, grassroots-oriented approach. To prepare the plan, the entire gram panchayat was divided into six sections, and intensive ground-level meetings were organised. These meetings facilitated direct interaction between administrative officials and villagers to understand their basic needs.Residents highlighted their requirements related to education, healthcare, connectivity, roads and drinking water. They also noted that the state govt, under the leadership of CM Yogi Adityanath, had created employment and self-employment opportunities, which needed to be further expanded through better management of local resources so that gram panchayats could become self-reliant and prosperous.
