Gurgaon: Former Union minister and Sambalpur MP Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday attacked Congress and Rahul Gandhi, accusing the opposition party of misleading people, having no political agenda and trying to create anarchy in the country. Addressing party workers at BJP’s ‘Save Democracy, End Anarchy’ march in Faridabad, he alleged that Congress had lost faith in democratic processes and was now relying on what he described as mob rule.Taking a swipe at Congress’s criticism of electoral processes, Pradhan said, “The party’s condition has become like the saying, ‘If you cannot get grapes, call them sour.’ This is a common saying in our villages.”He alleged that Rahul Gandhi had been exposed after three consecutive electoral defeats. “There is no idea left in Congress, and they are trying to create anarchy in the country. The people of the country are not with them,” he said.Pradhan also alleged that Congress members had walked out of the monsoon session of Parliament and backed away from discussions. He questioned the party’s position on Election Commission, accusing it of accepting the institution’s functioning when results favoured it but questioning its credibility after defeats.“If they win in Kerala, Election Commission is fine. If they win in Karnataka, it is fine. But if they lose in Bengal or Haryana, it is Election Commission’s fault,” he said. The march, organised under BJP’s ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ campaign, went from BK Chowk (Mataji Chowk) in Faridabad’s NIT area to Hardware Chowk. Thousands of party workers and supporters took part, including a sizeable contingent from Gurgaon led by district president Sarvpriya Tyagi.Tyagi accused Congress of spreading confusion over special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and reiterated BJP workers’ commitment to democratic values and good governance. Other local BJP leaders also said democratic issues should be discussed on the basis of facts, and that workers were committed to protecting constitutional institutions and taking the party’s message on governance and development to the public.Union minister Rao Inderjit Singh, Union minister of state Krishan Pal Gurjar, Haryana cabinet minister Rao Narbir Singh, Gurgaon MLA Mukesh Sharma and minister of state Gaurav Gautam were among the leaders present.
